چکیده

In this paper, we use the recently presented wavelet-FFT filter [1] to reduce the nonuniformity noise that affect almost all infrared imaging systems. The wavelet-FFT filter was originally developed to compensate the onedimensional noise known as stripping noise. We perform an extension of this methodology in order to compensate the two-dimensional noise that degrades infrared imagery. The principal hypothesis of this work is that the twodimensional focal-plane array can be considered as the composition of vertical and horizontal one-dimensional array sensors. Under this assumption we use a specific design of the wavelet filter to synthesize a replica of the twodimensional noise and then recover the real incident radiation. The method is evaluated using real midand long-wave infrared data from two cameras. The results show the promising performance of the wavelet-FFT filter when is applied in infrared imaging system such as self heating effect.

NUC algorithm by calculating the corresponding statistics of the decomposed signal Parul Goyal

Infrared focal plane arrays (IRFPA) imaging systems are strongly affected by the spatial non-uniformity of the IRFPA response. The non-uniformity is due to the pixel-to-pixel responsivity (gain) and dark current (offset) variations of the IRFPA. The non-uniformity results in a fixed spatial noise superimposed on the infrared image, which can completely mask the useful thermal signatures in an i...

A Novel Non-Uniformity Correction Algorithm Based On Non-Linear Fit

Infrared focal plane arrays (IRFPA) sensors, due to their high sensitivity, high frame frequency and simple structure, have become the most prominently used detectors in military applications. However, they suffer from a common problem called the fixed pattern noise (FPN), which severely degrades image quality and limits the infrared imaging applications. Therefore, it is necessary to perform n...

Using WPT as a New Method Instead of FFT for ‌Improving the Performance of OFDM Modulation

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used in order to provide immunity against very hostile multipath channels in many modern communication systems.. The OFDM technique divides the total available frequency bandwidth into several narrow bands. In conventional OFDM, FFT algorithm is used to provide orthogonal subcarriers. Intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interferen...

Non-uniformity Correction of Infrared Images by Midway Equalization

The non-uniformity is a time-dependent noise caused by the lack of sensor equalization. We present here the detailed algorithm and online demo of the non-uniformity correction method by midway infrared equalization. This method was designed to suit infrared images. Nevertheless, it can be applied to images produced for example by scanners, or by push-broom satellites. This single image method w...

Investigating the Influence of Filter Uniformity Coefficient and Effective Pore Size on Critical Hydraulic Gradient and Maximum Erosion of Dispersive and Non-dispersive Samples

Filter is one of the main components of embankment dams. By a simple but effective performance, filter protects the dam against erosion and soil scouring in impervious core caused by leakage (piping) and makes it safe. Interaction between filter and erodible base soil is a complex phenomenon which is dependent upon several factors, and has challenged researchers for better understanding the fil...
